Meet our 2008-2009 Cap Corps Volunteers

Cap Corps Volunteers

Where are the volunteers serving?

Our volunteers bring their academic and life experience to their ministry/social service organization placement. The volunteers will be serving in the cities of Detroit, Milwaukee and Chicago and will be  
experiencing a simple, Franciscan community life.

Our volunteers placed in Detroit will be serving at:

[] Capuchin Soup Kitchen's Earthworks Urban Farm, working with  
sustainable agriculture and local food systems
[] Alternatives for Girls, serving within a shelter program that  
serves young women ages 16-21
[] Vanguard Community Development Corporation, which works on  
education, economic and community development in the North End  
Neighborhood of Detroit.

Our volunteers placed in Milwaukee will be serving at:
[] Hope House, providing housing and social services to the homeless  
and Latino communities of Milwaukee's South Side
[] 9 to 5,  National Association of Working Women, organizing around  
policies and issues that affect low-wage working women
[] Messmer Catholic High School, whose students grow spiritually,  
academically and socially through a K4-12 continuum of Catholic  
education.

Our volunteers placed in Chicago will be serving at :

[] Chicago Legal Clinic, providing pro bono and low-cost legal  
representation
[] Maria High School, a all-girls Catholic college preparatory on  
Chicago's Southwest side.
[] Vanguard Community Development Corporation works on education,  
economic and community development in the North End Neighborhood of  
Detroit.
